This picture features the exact location where the swims will start from on Sunday, July 8th. It is about a five minute walk from the starting point of the 'Bike the Lakes' starting point on May 27th. Sproat Lake features both an upper and lower campground (that one by the water). This is a Provincial Campground so best to plan early as space is limited. The Swim itself will start at the beach front within the picture and head out left towards the Petroglyphs which were carved into the rocks centuries ago.

This is Macktush Campground which is located on the west side of the Alberni Inlet along Canal Main Road. It is about 30 kilometres away but is best accessed by truck or 4WD vehicle. If planning on this location and driving a rental vehicle we advise that you ensure you have insurance coverage. Give yourself upwards of one hour from Harbour Quay to get there. The sites are the biggest you'll ever find. They are stunningly beautiful and there is lots of them ~ 130 in total. Our cyclists will ride right past here (those doing the Iconic Bike Ride). The campground is about 30 minutes perhaps a bit more from Sproat Lake - assuming you're not on a bicycle!

Stamp Falls Provincial Park is a must see while you're in Port Alberni. Located about 25 minutes from Harbour Quay the area features scenery that is unparalleled anywhere. A raging river system that is home to the migration of many Salmon Species. The area is featured in our Tri-Conic - Iconic Run - the Marathon on Sunday, July 1. Those that embark on the Marathon will almost certainly see indicators of fish activity as this is the migration route for upwards of 1 million Sockeye Salmon every year between early June through to early August. The campground is lovely and it too is a Provincial Park so book early to avoid disappointment. The site features about 23 spots so of course it fills quickly.
